Tumoural calcinosis.
First described by Giard in 1888, its main feature is large, subcutaneous calcified masses that are usually asymptomatic and slow growing. Found typically near large joints, the deposits contain amorphous calcium phosphate and calcium carbonate. It is a rare complication of chronic kidney disease as a result of elevations in serum phosphate and vitamin D levels and is considered a metastatic calcification.
