Elf!Sherlock pleases me.
Point of fact, Sauron IS an elf, and since Benedict is voicing the Necromancer—who is Sauron. Lets just say the when I rewatched LotR last week every time they showed the Dark Tower my brain went, Elf!Benedict is in there somewhere *swoons*
Sauron/The Necromancer was NOT an elf … and what is the Dark Tower? Are we talking Stephen King here or do you mean Barad-dur/Orthanc (because I’m legit confused now). You likely want to go read some of the mythos (The Silmarillion in particular) because Elf!Benedict is not in fact in either of the Two Towers as that’s not a thing besides in this AU.
On another note, Sauron issomething more akin to an angel/immortal being, called a Maiar. He was there at the creation of the world and eventually fell to corruption and away from the supreme being. He came to Middle Earth before the elves came to the land and he eventually was a majour enemy of the elves, causing war with them even.
You are likely refering to the fact that Sauron assumed a beautiful appearance and befrended elves in an attempt to find out about their magic and to bind them to his service/forge the rings of power. This is in relation to the main “Rings” myth.
